The question is to what extent we, as arm chair strategists, or should the nato governments, acknowledge, even legitimize and try to resolve security dilemmas that stem in part from ideological issues. The second wrinkle, i think, is thatyet, russia almost certainly has the military power to defeat n and force major political concessions. And no one other than the ucranians, may be, has the political will to fight back with military force. But if that happens and russia succeeds, what would the consequences for the larger system and broader questions of security and values be?
