The Legacy Museum and the Memorial to Lynching
EJI is trying to do history telling in a way that grapples with the realities. What disturbed me about what EJI has done, it unsettled me is that it refuses the progressive narrative. The legacy museum and the memorial around lynching sit in a place where that narrative structure is in the built environment but it's not about overcoming. It's about sitting with something. I remember I write about this in the book, people looking at all of those jars of dirt.
