Brahms' Theme Without Introduction
Brahms originally had written four extra measures here, four introductory measures which set up the entrance of the main theme. Bram simply starts the emotional outpouring without even saying hello. Critics and even other composers often criticized brahms for being cold, unfeeling and having music that was way, way to cerebral.
