Crayon physics deluxe is one of the first commercial physics games right so it's like quite early on taking these kind of modern emergent behavior physics engines and using that to create novel gameplay. You're drawing shapes and they come into appearance into into the world using you know gesture recognition which was also hot thing in 2008. Noita is obviously a 2019 early access release but I think the first version I saw of that game the first prototype would have been in 2011 or 2012. It took a very long time to figure out how to stop it devolving into chaos which the early prototypes were really interesting and promising but not very game.
