The principles implicitly assume that humans are the autonomous possessors of their own preferences. This is a reasonable starting point, but it's not valid in the long run. We need more theoretical and experimental work before we have the necessary design templates for regulation. Fortunately, i believe companies will have a very strong economic incentive to adopt this new approach as soon as it's feasible.
