H pilore is a gram negative bacterium that fects human hosts. Almost all humans who carry h pelora are infected in the first year of life, and it is unusual for adults to acquire infection later in life. The environment, host diet and genetics and the particular strain of h pilori can all influence disease expression. With chronic infections, hes factors cause breakdown and increased permability of gastric mucus and underlying epithelium.
