What's the Average Time to Productivity of an Engineer?
The average tenure of a sophor engineer is about 18 months now, so that's quite a long time. But on the shorter end, i see junior engineers, often junior to mid level, taking seven to nine months to getup speed. And then even senior engineers can take a quarter or more to get up to speed and to feel really productive. Sow what are the types of things that a new hire, an an engineering team needs to come up to speed with? In my eyes, are asort of four main categories of knowledge.
