The Contemplative Virtues

In book ten, we turn from pleasure to these contemplative virtues. So the being at work of a god surpassing in blessedness would be contemplative. And so happiness would be some sort of contemplation. But there will also be a need of external prosperity for one who is a human being. For self sufficiency does not consist in excess any more than action does. You don't have to be a mighty man to be a happy man.
