The Origins of the Huns

The earliest nomads were essentially hunter gatherers who avoided permanent settlements so that they could follow the migrations of the animals they hunted. This life on horseback led to the development of one of the most formidable military units in allof human history, the mounted horse archer. Archers on horseback were known for their remarkable speed and versatility when facing adversaries that couldn't counter with effective projectile weapons or large cavalry forces. The people of the stepp truly perfected the art of mounted archery and the military tactics that best exploited the strength of this unit.
