We need to produce 50% more food by 2050 to feed an ever-growing global population. We realized that this interesting protein, FTO, play important roles in animal development. This protein works by removing methylation from RA. If you don't have this protein, the mice work a little smaller. So we started to wonder, what about plants? The plants have RA methylation and we suspect the RA methylation also play important role in normal plant development. That's just extraordinary.
