Tommy Shelby is an American philosopher and author of The Idea of Prison Abolition. He argues that prisons should be abolished in the US, which has a higher imprisonment rate than any other country on the planet. Angela Davis talks about her own time in jail whilst awaiting trial for murder,. She says she was constantly relying upon the knowledge that if I had been convicted, my situation did look extremely bleak.
