Douglas Rushkoff: I think practical developers are hitting these snags as they're developing apps with this technology that are entering a sort of gray zone. He says the Google Books project ingested every book that ever existed, perhaps also including the Harry Potter book. A bunch of publishers said, hey, no fair because you can't ingest all these things because these things are copyrighted.Rushkoff: But in copyright law, there is the idea, expression dichotomy. Ideas are uncopy-readable. And so it's taking the expressions and effectively jettisoning those in favor of the ideas.
