Inequality Is Not a Problem, Right?
Inequality of a certain kind is simply not a problem. If we have reasonable equality of opportunity, that's good enough. We completely ignore the fact that we have a progressive tax system Contrary to what you might hear, the rich do pay more than the poor. And it doesn't end there. The government then cuts checks to the poor in a variety of ways from the earned income tax credit to income assistance to housing subsidies and on and on. But all of that, the taxation of the rich, the transfers to the poor mitigates inequality. But we don't measure that.
