The Problem With American Patronage
In some ways I think the problem with patronage is not that it exists, but that's become less and less legible. There are a lot of liberals who just can't see the patronage that exists because it is kind of hidden. Journalism as a profession has just been converted into basically being regime loyalists or conservative journalists suck. Well, this is all downstream of education polarization too, like, there's just not enough college to give people in their public and party.
