The Man-Made Hole in the Ground

The quarry is between 40 and 60 million years old, when the clays were first laid down. The base of this quarry was the base of our old underground mine. These operations here produce around about 150, 160,000 tons of mineral a year. Main market for export is Spain, tile industry where I would say then is into India and China. We're actually doing some clays exporting to South America as well - Leptraporce Lane which is used in tableware.
