New Testament scholars have enormous difficulty infusing any measure of meaning into this word, Hegiasi sanctified. The marital imagery that Paul says in Ephesians is about Christ and the church has always been about Yahweh and his bride Israel. So we don't have to worry about what kind of stratification is meant here. It's talking about actually belonging to a husband or wife. In other words, really being married.
