The Cost of Japan's Recovery From the Cold War
Sato Aisaku Kepti Keita and Yoshida system intact. He continued prior economic policies and solidified the use of Article 9 as a shield against international involvement by articulating what he called peace principles. Sato's anti-nuclear policy in particular earned him a Nobel Peace Prize in 1972. Later in life, Yoshida expressed some regret on that score, stating that his strategy had been meant only to be temporary while Japan got back on its feet before it could normalize again.
