Preoperative Biliary Drainage

There's no indication for pre operative biliary drainage. In fact, it may lead to higher rates of infection. The best type of stent to choose would be a self expanding metal stent. These are preferred because they're easy place without dilation. They tend to have longer patency rates than the plastic stents.
