The Fear Factor: The Thru Line

Fear is where basic emotion, psychopathy, and altruism research meet. It's this emotion that totally connects psychopathy to altruism in the sense that if you can recognize fear in other people, that's the key to all of this. This is why the title of her book is The Fear Factor. It is The Thru Line. She also brings to psychological and neuroscientific research the insight that these emotional expressions, like fear, they are root and branch signals. They're not just outputs of some internal state. They're signals that literally control behavior and others. That's what signals do in animals.
