In the last decade, some listeners will remember hearing about Pegasus, which is the infamous spyware tool by NSO Group. And although NSO Group is a private company, it essentially operates as an arm of the state. So decades and decades ago Israel's defense industry was purely public. About 40 years ago it moved increasingly into the private domain but as I said, it's private only in name.
