Dot net is rapidly becoming incredible in how fast it can perform. Performance was never really a conncern because it wasn't necessarily comparable thike, you wouldn't run javon windows. Having it be superfas and optimized for it just makes it more attractive to companies who want performance. Strings are extremely expensive. And using ared only span to optimise or all deal with them, can really make a difference to your ap.
