The first Chinese resident in Seattle was listed as one Ah Long who in 1850 was employed by a US Army outpost as a domestic servant. 62 years earlier in May, 1788, late Qianlong period, roughly four dozen Chinese serving aboard two British trading vessels landed in Nutka Sound on Vancouver Island.
