Nicholas Romanoff's Last Letter of Abdication

Nicholas decided he could not bear leaving his son behind to probably die miserably, without being able to be there or to comfort him. He wrote a letter of abdication that was far less magnanimous and patriotic than what he had written in his diary the night before. "All around me i see treason, treachery and defeat," said Nicholas at one point. 'We are now going to move on with our lives' says tsarevitch's daughter-in-law Anna Nikolaevskaya.
