The Australian Election Study - Why Voters Voted the Way They Voted in the 2022 Federal Election
Researchers from the Australian National University have released the Australian election study. And it breaks down exactly why we voted the way we voted in the 2022 federal election, including what led to Scott Morrison's government being kicked out and the Albanese government being voted in. What they have found is that they can no longer rely on their traditional base for support. One in three voters supported minor party or an independent candidate ahead of the coalition party - highest rate since the 1930s. The authors also reckon many under 40s won't go back to the major parties any time soon.
