I wonder how much is Oscar hyper fixating on the moments he had with his dad and that's what we're seeing as opposed to how involved mom was because of how in touch she is with him. I think dad was just yeah a little better at that particular thing for him all right and go ahead then something that I also want to touch on with this is that sometimes when people go through a loss particularly one that they are experiencing trauma on and are hyper focused on trying to resolve the traumatic part of it can start to distort the relationship or the importance of it.
On the 20th anniversary of 9/11 we discuss the tragically beautiful Academy Award nominated film Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close. In this episode we discuss the unique journey of Oskar Schell as he processes the life changing event of losing the person who understood him best in the world while simultaneously living through the collective trauma of the September 11th attacks. We are joined by special guests Dr. David Paltin who is an expert in Neuro-Atypical Presentations and Andrew Rubin who is the president of Symptom Media.
