How to Find Stardust With the Electron Microscope
Seven years into his search and still no luck. Jorn realized he had to change tactics completely. He invited Matthew Gange for lectures in Norway. And within seconds we saw, okay, I've never seen anything like this before. Some stripey surface texture. Don't know what it is. So when Matt came to Bergen, I showed him the image at full size. John was very excited. He showed me a couple of particles. And there was one particle in particular that was absolutely, definitely a micrometeorite. It's not supposed to be possible. We were in a coffee shop and John started doing a little dance. He was that excited.
