Using a Time Table to Do a Mathematical Task

In order to do an arithmetic task like 25 times 7 i need to keep a number of things in memory so the fact that i could do seven times five is 35 straight off because i know my times tables simplifies things for me. Otherwise i'd have to go seven times five and then i'd need to add up seven fives which would go five ten etc but i also know that five plus five is ten there's another sort of arithmetic fact i know. So these things that are stored in my long-term memory are reducing the load on my working memory otherwise my working memory would have to do a lot more things, he says.
