Is Family Background a Predictor of Education?

Family background is one of the strongest predictors that we have for children's school performance. Traditionally, we've thought about family background in terms of social and economic inequality. And it turns out that part of that is genetic, because as I said before, all traits are heritable. Parents genetics influence the education that they have achieved, and that in turn influences how they're raising their children.
