Benny Kates's Confessions
Benny Kates has never been questioned by police about the disappearance of his sister Denise. His cousin Randy Kates has apparently confessed to his friends that he was involved as well. Former sheriff Joey Laughlin believes that they could have been the evidence they needed to help solve the case. In the summer and fall of 2022 Indiana canine search and recovery brought in several cadaver dogs to conduct searches but I'm not sure what exact sites that they did this at doesn't seem like any significant evidence was recovered.
