The Importance of Assertion in Conversations
The way that this more sentence gets asserted is in a conversation where one person is asking questions and the other person is answering them. And then you can get these more sentences to be said by a person who, you know, believes they but not the entailment of a because of many of the reasons why they wouldn't do that. In order to get the assertion of a more sentence, you need both of the states of affairs to obtain. That conventional wisdom is driven by an implicit model that assertion is speaking into the void.
