The number of car jackings has more than doubled in most cities that count this. One theory is that with schools closed, a lot of young people who hadhave otherwise been occupied hav basically drifted into this crime. Gun sales have sored during the pandemic, and it seems tha more of them have drifted into criminal hands. Very few car jackings result in an arrest. In 20 20, only 11 % in chicago were solved.
