I think the general view was that Ukraine would try and cut the so-called land bridge. And there was a sense perhaps that Russia would focus its main effort on the city of Melotopol, which is a city in the south. The attacks that we're seeing are probably a little bit further to the east of that. We have not yet seen signs of the best Ukrainian equipment, the most modern Western tanks being committed to the fight yet. I think that gives us a hint that these are still probing attacks that are designed to try and open up more gaps in the Russian lines.
After months of waiting, probing attacks have begun. A destroyed dam in Kherson suggests that Russia is upping the ante in response. But what else is in store?
