The Role of Agency in Person Identity

John Locke famously said that the notion of personal identity is a forensic issue. Persons are the kinds of things to which we ascribe responsibility, he says. We would never ever hold someone responsible rightly for something that they didn't do. So agency is what's at the core of person identity and it's being a forensic notion.
