Dr. Lestisi's undergrad work was published in her 2016 American Journal of Physical Anthropology paper quantifying variation in human scalp hair fiber shape and pigmentation. Within individuals who had dark hair, it seemed that individuals who had darker skin also seemed to produce more melanin everywhere. And that was such a cool example of pleiotropie and the way that has to do with genes that affect multiple traits.
