The Moral Utility of Pain and Pleasure
Pain and pleasure can be thought of as internal sign posts that routinely guide sentient beings toward two key biological goals, temporary survival and reproduction. Paul draper writes we know antecedently that humans are goal directed organic sist s composed of parts that systematically contribute to the biological goals of these systems. This is a clear piece of evidence which counts in favor of naturalism over theism. My next argument appeals to known facts about the flourishing and guishing of sentient beings.
