The Second Wave - The Specials and Madness
First wave scaw came from Jamaicans who emigrated to britain. It was embraced by some of the country's disefranchised youth in working class towns plaged by high unemployment an ongoing racial tensions. Second wave scaw still emphasized the off beat and maintained r n b tempos, but the addition of punk influence, chords and tempo gave it a tighter and edgier sound.
