Is Conscription a Bad Thing?

Conscription varies profoundly from country to country. In cyprus, conscripts do menial tasks; in russia it's associated with bullying and hazing. But there are a lot of places where military service isn't just an exercise in satism. And i think we see some really good examples of that in israel - schools boast about the number of students they've sent to elite combat units. It's become this magnet for big tech talent because these young people know when they get out, their service will mark them as the cream of the crop.
