I think the same is an Achilles heel of the pure astrotheological idea of the Gospels. There's way too much going on there to say it's all just a code for astronomy, especially was astronomy or astrology back then. But beyond that, there's just too much moral teaching and so on that I don't see how it would come out of astrology. Some stories are likely allegories for Christian theology, like the Emmaus story certainly is.
