What Happened to Treasury Bonds in Silicon Valley?
Sally Kohn: If you had told me six months ago that Silicon Valley Bank would have failed, I would have said, well, sure, they probably did something dumb in Silicon Valley. But nope, they did something dumb with treasury bonds. She says the bank should have lent it overnight to another bank but bought long dated bonds instead. Kohn: This is a fire that the Fed started. The Federal Reserve kept interest rates at or around zero for way too long. It created a waxed out ecosystem of awful, weird bets that made lots of people in Silicon Valley very rich, but also misallocated a ton of money.
