Iben Haram - A Review
The book opens with the teen aged jamel trying to pray. It's derailed by a baby and a fart an, can you introduce me to this young man? Ye ah, he's a young lebenese turkish man who was raised by his auntie for the first few years of his life. Until his biological mother returns to claim him and his brother. And this story is essentially about him trying to come to terms with who he is and his relations within his family and to his culture and faith. I think we're certainly seeing in australian literature more use of language in fiction, and it's an absolutely wonderful thing.
