The Role of Microbes in Stress Response
Stress is affecting the microbes. The microbes are regulating the response to stress so that led us to the next part of the question was could we by using targeted approaches like prebiotics or probiotics which we've heard of could we actually dampen down the effects of stress? And it was really remarkable and we we showed that certain lactobacilli and bifidobacteria in particular couldactually dampen downThe effects of stress initially in animal studies but now we've moved on to actually replicating this in human studies in healthy volunteers and in people that are susceptible to stress. There's something about the microbes that helps program our stress response and that stays with us throughout our entire life
