What Is It We Do Not Have?
We are marked with something that we do not have, a lack that is there and yet not there. The child does not want to be everything all the time. There's a suffocation to being the sole object of the other's attention. Every time we need him what the other desires, we can never get it. So this brings us into neurusis, by the way. If you get right through this yor you're unlucky enough to become a neurotic. Some one who never quite gets the object of their desire because it's never fully fulfilling.
