Is There a Level of Consciousness?
consciousness emerges from multiple modules or networks, firing along in some kind of coordinated, unison, unitary way. If that's true, then simpler brains must have fewer a degrees of consciousness and more complex brains with more systems operating at the same time would have more degrees of consciousness. So my dog, ah is, he's conscious for sure. He's not self aware, but he's aware. But he isn't capable of thinking about that, or even processing that as a question like we are.
