OLAP Workflows - What Are Hypercubes?

With most real-world data sets you can have many, many different dimensions in your data. One terminology that people refer to these complex multi-dimensional cubes is like hypercubes. So let's give an example here. You started out with the idea of product and would dimensions be things like the store that sold it, the date when it was sold, total value of the transaction. The time is often a dimension that's part of OLAP workflows. And for every product that's sold you record when it was sales, you record where it was sold,. how much it was sold for and then anything else you can tag along with that sale.
