The Importance of the Industrial Base in the Pacific War

The escorting fleet for Operation Galvanic was the largest amphibious operation of the Pacific war to that point. It included 17 aircraft carriers, 12 battleships, eight heavy cruisers, four light cruisers, 66 destroyers and 36 transports. The industrial base is what allowed us to go from one aircraft carrier in Guadalcanal to 17 at Terroa. China has the capability to build those ships. God help us, we don't.
