The Rise and Fall of the X-Rating
Erotic 80s devoted one episode to each year, erotic 90s can't be contained in that format. The mainstreaming of hardcore pornography delegitimized the X-rating as a marker for more respectable or artistically minded movies. Virtually every Hollywood film that had attempted challenging eroticism since last Hango that had been submitted to the MPAA and Rated X was ultimately trimmed in order to get an R rating.
