There's a lot of folklore that plants don't have enough protein. If you eat plant-based material, you're going to be protein deficient. The easiest way to determine how much protein is necessary is to calculate your ideal body weight in kilograms and then multiply that by either 0.8 or 1.2. You get higher amounts of protein predominantly from the legume category which is beans, beans, and lentils. So if you're a protein seeker, then go to those two categories and you can fill yourself up.
