Islamic Leadership and Sectarian Dynamics

This chapter examines the historical evolution of Islamic leadership, focusing on the differences between Sunni and Shia Islam as well as the impact of contemporary jihadist movements. It highlights the consequences of U.S. foreign policy decisions in the Middle East, particularly regarding sectarian tensions and the rise of Shiite power in post-Ba'ath Iraq.
