Samuel peeps is most famous for keeping a diary between 16 60 and 16 69. But he actually left behind him a whole host of papers that document a very active life. He was the son of a tailor, so not tremendously well off, but he got himself a scholarship to cambridge. His career can have took off with the restoration, because his cousin got him a job as clerk of the axe to the navy board. In 16 69, he stops his diary because he fears is going blind,.
