Star Trek: The Next Generation

The pilot episode for Star Trek The Next Generation, Far Point Part 1 aired on September 28, 1987. Dave says the first thing that strikes him outside of the simplicity of the primary set is the acting. Patrick Stewart portraying Captain Jean-Luc Picard imparts virtually every one of his lines as if he's on stage and even when he attempts a bit of restraint he comes across as overacting. I'm not ready to write off continuing with the series but I'm not sure how well it holds up nearly 30 years later.
